There's been a few races on lately. Cowan House was 2-and-a-bit weeks ago and there was a huge turnout! It was quite nice how the organizers had changed the route around from previous years and kept the 40km and 20km races seperate. The batch starts really helped with congestion in the single track so all in all it was a great race - Well done to Andy Wood and Cowan House School!
This Sunday just past was the Howick Highlander. Now Howick is known for its brilliant single track so we always look forward to races out yhere! Another massive turnout with over 1000 pre-entries and batch starts are definitely the way to go! First half of the race was pretty boring as it was mostly dirt road but eventually we got lots of singletrack. There was a huge cock-up on the course as the route marking wasn't good enough and there weren't enough marshals so many people took wrong routes and ended up missing out a good few kms of the race! It must have been a nightmare for the organizers to sort out the results and overall prize winners but its good they need to learn and will hopefully improve next year!
The shop is coming along nicely! We've been open for 4 months now and it just keeps getting better and better! We've sold our first Pivot! Bruce Mackenzie is going to be the proud new owner of a Pivot Mach 429 - a 4" travel 29" dualie - The frame is on its way from the states and i'll post pictures of it when it arrives and as we build it up!
Another interesting bike we've just sold is the Niner MCR - MCR stands for Magic Carpet Ride... Its a 29" geared hardtail frame made from Reynolds 853 Steel tubing. Will post pictures tomorrow as we finish building it up. The parts kit for the Silver-Spaceman Ibis Mojo finally arrived so the bike is built up! It looks awesome (haven't had a chance to test ride it yet but it feels awesome just riding it in the parking lot.)
Heard today that Candy Neethling got Bronze at Worlds - flipping brilliant! Well done Candy! Good luck to James Reid who is also racing Junior Worlds - he is in a tough age category but James is super strong so we're looking forward to seeing his results! And hopefully Burry and Greg will bring back gold when they race this weekend!
That's it for now....we've got a Saeco coffee machine in the shop now so stop in for a cup and a chat and good luck with the Hill 2 Hill training - its just around the corner....
Cheers
